Airs: Thursdays at 7:30pm on WGBH 2
Since 1968, Emmy Award-winning BASIC BLACK has served as a vehicle for African American community empowerment and for the sharing and celebration of its rich history and culture. BASIC BLACK remains the longest-running program on public television. This season, the long-running series presents not only more noteworthy guests, but also a new host, author Kim McLarin. The series reflects on the concerns and culture of African Americans through short-form documentaries, performances and one-on-one conversations. BASIC BLACK captures the stories and events that illuminate the African American experience in the Boston area and beyond.
